BreathOfLife PDC Ministry raises funds to support local Playa Del Carmen families in critical need and single mothers from abusive situations with food, clothes, education, housewares, and emergency services.

We help families get on their feet again, and have hundreds of success stories!

The Breath Of Life Ministry

Breath Of Life Ministry is a passion project that was formed in 2020 by Michele Avila, who experienced extreme poverty after being brought to Playa del Carmen 10 years ago. Wiith only the bags on her back and very little money with no family or friends support, by the grace of God, she found a way to stay alive and support herself and her child.

She has since pulled herself out of a life and death situation, has created a beautiful home, raised her son, and currently helps other women break the cycle of abuse and poverty. Because of her own struggles, she developed a deep passion to help the growing impoverished communities in Playa del Carmen (especially single mothers in abusive situations) who needed help due to uncontrollable circumstances.

During the pandemic the needs became desperate as people were laid off from work and had no way to make money, Michele began reaching out to friends to help her support these single mothers to have food for their children.

At first they were simply buying groceries with whatever money they personally could spare, as more people came to her for help, they began to raise money providing continued support when needed most. Breath of Life Ministry grew from this passion to support impoverished families in their critical times of need and has brought support to hundreds of beautiful souls every week!

Currently the ministry provides:

● Groceries and Household Needs - distributed bi-weekly to as many as 35 households at a time

● Monthly Bazaar - where all donations are first offered to families in need, and then sold to raise money for the bi-weekly distributions

● Weekly Support Group For Women - providing Domestic Violence Support, life Skills training, and emotional support during tough times!

● Sunday School for the children - providing reading, life skills training, mentorship, and love & support

● Celebrations & Gift Giveaways for major holidays (Christmas, Dia de Reyes, Easter, Mother’s and Children’s Days, etc) Back-To-School Packages, and help fund Uniforms as well as any Special Needs.

● Support Health Needs - Glasses, Cancer treatments, Funerals, etc.

● Provide Equipment - Tools, Education, and Micro Loans to support small business development

Our goal is to help these families get back on their feet again, and in the years that we have been providing help, we have hundreds of success stories, and many who have gotten back on their feet, volunteer with us to continue to help the others! All donations go 100% to the families in need, there is an application and in-home interview process for families that reach out to us or are referred to assess the exact need.

As our reach grows, our needs grow! We constantly need donations of money, food, clothes, household items, and volunteers!
